The state attorneys general are really stoopid on this one. Getting CL to close down the erotic section doesn't magically kill off all the working girls, and nature abhors a vacuum. Backpage.com may pick up some of the slack, and some ads will move to other areas of CL, but other sites like it will pop up, and sooner or later one of them will be hosted offshore where the AGs can't touch 'them. All this means is that there will be some confusion for a little while as the girls and the guys figure out where to find each other again, and then it will be business as usual. Hell, when CL instituted the pay-for-ads policy in erotic services, it wasn't more than two or three days before several guys had set up fronts to pay for the ads without connecting back to the girls.
You can't legislate morality. But the fools keep trying.
