Woman in Cartagena are more expensive than other places in Colombia the beach area around bucagrande is small. If you like the coast Santa Marta has better beaches and woman are cheaper. Barranquilla has nice woman that are cheaper but no beach.

I managed to fly from Tampa for like $250 round trip, and once you get there everything's cheap. Beers can be had for less than a buck (an expensive beer in a fancy place in El Poblado is like $5). Hot 20 year olds can be had for $20. The cool thing about Medellin is that if you're willing to do a bit of hunting you can find some gems without spending much. It's easy to spend a lot if you want, but you don't have to.

I was in the DR a few years ago (Santo Domingo and Boca Chica). Personally, I enjoyed Colombia more, but that's just personal preference (not to mention the exchange rate in Colombia was very favorable this year). They're both fun, and if you have the time and money to travel a bit, it's easy from Florida. Definitely recommended if you are comfortable traveling to somewhat sketchy places. Santo Domingo and Medellin are both cities where you want to be aware of your surroundings.
