I agree with you Chase on the research using TER and this board helps. Normally I have found that when I research one of the lower price providers her reviews are iffy or something just doesn't work for me. I guess it is YMMV. Not suggesting this is a game plan for all just how my approach has been. I have locked in on a couple of favs and visit regularly. Of course once you do that you get into a position to see if a reduced price is possible. We all have to do what works for us.

I have had my share of higher priced providers who did not offer any special other than a higher price. Higher prices do not guarantee a better time IMHO. Same goes for the age. Older is not always better either. Best time I ever had was several years ago in Tampa with a young spinner who I got for 200 per hour. She was young, cute and willing to do anything and actually seemed to enjoy our time together. We met several times and each time was hotter and wilder than the previous. Sadly she moved out of town and I have not seen her since.
I have also seen hot, young providers start off with low rates and great sessions. They get a few good reviews on some of the local boards and suddenly their prices go up and service goes down.

A good case in point is Kimmie, who got great reviews by myself and others around here just a couple of months ago. Since then her rate shot up $100 and her service quality dropped to virtually non-existent.
I can also very much relate to your other comment about finding a good one and "riding the train" for as long as you can. Okay, that's not exactly what you said but that is what I got out of it. Some guys like to "play the field" and go for variety, but I usually prefer just to stick with the good ones when I'm lucky enough to find them, because trying new providers is often such a crapshoot. Unfortunately, such winners never seem to last long enough. Maybe a few times, a few months, a year if you're really lucky, but usually something happens sooner rather than later to destroy the ride. She moves away (as happened with your spinner), retires from the hobby, finds another real boyfriend, gets too much like a girlfriend, gets too commercial like a prostitute, puts on weight, becomes involved in drugs or otherwise flakes out or any of a number of ways becomes less the dream she was when you started...oh well, time to start looking again.
