Herpes is a nasty, sneaky virus. My wife got it simply from exposure and contact with the virus, and it WASN'T from sexual contact! Luckily the outbreaks are few and far between, and isolated to the same area, which isn't an "intimate" part.

I also did some research and once spoke to a doctor about Herpes when I was younger. He also told me along with the other info mentioned already that you can get Herpes and not have any symptoms for years. When your imunes system gets tired or you have some other illness in your life you may then see the symptoms.

Outing the two sw may not even be the issue. That is unless Jolly was a virgin before two encounters.

A frighting thing if you put two and two together is you could be with some one for years and then be infected by them or vica versa without knowing.

The doctor's advice to me low thoes many years ago, when I had my first scare with the clap "best to keep it wrapped at all times you only need to do things wrong once inorder to suffer a long time".

That also goes for getting cought mongering, which in my book is a far worse fate than a treatable std!

Luckily it was caught "innocently" and is in an area of exposed skin, not any internal or genital area. When it shows up, we simply avoid contact with that area for a week or so, when it goes away.

Where or how you cought it. Believe me I do not think any less of Mrs Bubba261. It is kinda like getting killed. It really shouldn't matter if it was drug overdose or getting hit by a car you still are dead. People just have something to gossip about. You're all correct, the virus could be latent for years, so the doc said I could have had it for years but never knew it. But it usually does take at least 2-3 weeks to show up, so if you had sex yesterday and broke out today, it's not from that person.

I also asked if I went back 3 weeks, would that tell me who I got it from, and again the answer is no, not necessarily, back to the dormant factor again. The only 2 I've gone bbbj with are Shyann from New Britain and Andree from Lucky's.

I was married over 30 years and was completely monogamous that whole time, so I doubt this was latent all that time, and believe me, if stress could bring it on, it would have shown up during that time!! LOL

So I'll just chalk it up to some bad decisions, and move on. It is funny, though, since I've gotten this, I haven't even gotten a hard on!! LOL Nature's way of keeping a lid on things.

Don't want to get too personal or too detailed here, but ....

Did you wash the area after these encounters? Does washing with hot water and soap right after help prevent catching herpes from a BBBJ? (Am I naive to think a good washing afterwards reduces the risk?) Did you have any cuts or zits or any other breaks in the skin that could have provided an entryway? Do you shave the area and did you do so shortly before these encounters?

I am not trying to be an idiot or jerk here. I am asking these questions sincerely in the spirit of trying to figure out how and when this happened with the hope that others will not suffer the same penalty. Also, I am a bit nervous too as I saw "S" once, about a month ago. Knock on wood, no symptoms for me.

Which of the two did you see more than once? S or A? Have you asked them if they have any issues?

I've been lurking for a couple of months reading the forum, getting a lot of good info. I had hit the AMP's in SW connecticut pretty hard over the years and took a sabbatical for a couple of years and now am just getting back into the hobby. I didn't have anything to offer the board until today, but after following JR's thread I just had to add this. It either makes things simpler or more confusing.

There are two types of herpes. Type I and Type II. Type I is the original oral herpes (fever blisters/ "Canker sores" and the like), highly contagious (you can even get it from drinking from someone elses glass who has it), brought on by viral illnesses, stress, fatigue and a suppressed immune system. Type II herpes or genital herpes everybody is also familiar with it looks like 3 or 4 little clear blisters on a red base, it itches burns and can hurt like a bastard.

You can get type I herpes in the genital area (having a early lesion on your mouth or lip or even inside your mouth) touching it and subsequently touching your penis when you urinate if you have a cut a scratch or irritated skin there when it happens. It can lay there dormant and not show up for quite a while. Conversely you can get type II herpes in the mouth by oral sex if you have a crack in your lip or a scratch on your gums and it could not show up for quite a while too.

It really is very hard to tell the difference between the two by just looking, it takes a blood test and it usually can differentiate one from the other or at least tell you that you have type II (a lot of people have a blood test postive for type I). Even if you did a smear of the lesions and looked under the microscope at them they would be essentially unable to be told apart.

They both are treated the same way, Valtrex/famvir/zovirax, whatever your doctor prefers. They all work, just some are easier to take than others. But to keep from having more flares you have to take it every day (at least once a day) and although pretty effective it is not 100%. And truly if your partner doesn't have it you have to have covered sex (even though you don't see anything you can be just as contagious as if you did).

If she doesn't have access to his medical records JR could always tell the wife of S. O. That he had type I herpes on his genitals and try to explain his way through it that way. It may not work but you can give it a shot.

Just had to throw this in for what its worth.

My $.02 worth:

Washing is ALWAYS a good idea. Suds up all the areas, even inside the hole in the tip (urethra?). Lather up twice or more. What the hell? It's free.

Also, try to piss as soon and as much as you can afterwards. Think of it as flushing the system from the inside out. Drink plenty of water before you start and this should be easy.

I also recommend staying away from the street girls. If they can't work in a house, or as an indy or agency escort, I figure they're desperate and are probably making bad decisions. If you must see them, go covered all the way and wash well and fast.

There are no guarantees, but there's no sense in skipping easy steps that can help.

I've gotten bbbj from escorts plenty of times and I've been lucky enough never to catch anything. Except for my SO, I don't plan to have unprotected intercourse ever again.

Well, after waiting and waiting for my test results, I finally called the doctor a minute ago to see what the hell is taking so long for my STD tests to come back, since it's been 10 days. Guess what!!! EVERYTHING came back negative!!!

WTF, I've been freakin out for over a week, you might think they would have let me know as soon as possible!! Especially since the doc was so emphatic that it WAS herpes.

So, why is my dick itchy and red? Might be a yeast infection. Was one helluva scare though. In any case, just wanted to let you all know, and how much I really appreciated all the support. So, monger on!!!! Although it did scare the shit outta me, and I think I'll be keeping a low profile in the immediate future.

In my panic, I did a lot of research online about herpes and I read that on one of the sites. Now I can't find which one. There's a lot of info out there on this STD, it's so prevalent.

And not that it's the best thing to get, but it's not the end of the world either, the more you learn about it. More of a nuisance than anything else.

I also posted a retraction on CL about Shyann, whoever was wondering. But lets face it, you never really know who has what, so everyone is at their own risk. I, for one, will be much more cautious from now on.
