This wouldn't surprise me, women (especially attractive younger women) are so dishonest they would certainly try to play it both ways (engaging in prostitution but pretending they are not). If a friend or family member catches the, they just claim to be doing femdom or scamming simps, when in reality they are taking dick for $. Sounds about right. Probably a lot of them are too dumb to know what platonic means and also too lazy to look it up. The remaining 10% actually limit themsleves to a true platonic relationship, get no takers, and are off the site in a month.
This is an Occam's Razor situation. The simplest explanation is usually correct.
What's probably going on is that many girls think there are guys out there who will pay them to just be a platonic sugar baby.
In fact this shows up quite a bit in profiles. How often do you come across ones saying their value is to be an online sugar baby, or a great ear to listen, or only looking for mentorship, or great and text conversations and phone calls. This is literally an offer many but not most girls put up on their profiles. And it saddens me to think there are well heeled but lonely enough guys out there that might even remotely consider it.
