I have to thank SecondTry for this. If you just open it, standard option is to auto-populate your contact lists and try to make connections with friends, and their friends to you. So you can have her mongers and her drug dealers showing up on your facebook accounts, as you show up in theirs, and in mine with your "real name" but existing handle. To pay for development costs, they add the option to get your phone list on install and sell it to the database for a few pennies per user that facebook and google subscribe to. So the big boys get the info for pennies per user to make you be able to get more contacts and usability and connectivity to people. How do you think the internet makes money, Joe?

It's the big moneymaker in our generation, INFO, connections, what you do, where you shop, etc. Focused advertising and monitoring, either for trends or other purposes.

1) you need a hobby phone w / new accounts.

2) never do anything on your hobby phone, like check regular emails, "existing" FORUMS with existing usernames / handles (awww, start over? Or call people from the new hobby phone. Make new ones, or just continue to do on regular phone, your choice. If you can connect the two phones with shared info / contacts, the internet always will.

3) secure your phone contacts list with a different type of phone book.

4) or try to do all of the above from existing phone, but not as secure.
