He probably fucked or got a handy from nearly every one of those women many times before going nuts. I'd bet you a buffalo nickel that ideas about religious purity drove this guy to "purify" himself of temptation, and the fact that the victims were mostly asian was just happenstance. Damned shame.
He's the right age for being part of the incel / MGTOW movement who spend all their time online complaining about how much they hate women and how their only path to liberation is to remove all sexual urges, because it is through their sexual urges that women exercise their power over men, etc. Whenever they fail, mainly from masturbation, they get really, psychotically upset with themselves about it. Really batshit stuff.

But his religious beliefs didn't agree with his Asian sexual fantasies. To eliminate any further temptations he went on his Asian Spa murder spree. There are some guys that are way out of reality.

The fact that they were Asian may have been incidental, as it is for a lot of people who review AMPs. Some guys who go go specifically because they like Asian women, but most guys go because it's an easy, convenient, and relatively inexpensive way to get your rocks off.
Racial hate crime is a bit of a stretch.

Just why?

Racial hate crime is a bit of a stretch.
I normally enjoy your posts a lot. You are typically super informative and sometimes entertaining. This one just misses the mark though. How can you say it's a bit of a stretch that race was the driving factor with this? He killed 7 Asians out of 8 people total that's a pretty clear pattern. Why is it easier to say that this complete stranger was a religious nut than a racist? You do know the two can both be true at the same time, right? You also realize that there are a ton of religious nuts that don't go around murdering multiple Asian women in a single day. Regardless of what he said motivated him he went to three separate Asian spas to shoot up and did just that. He could've shot hot girls of all races that were tempting anywhere. He could've killed sex workers in any number of different ways, but he chose this way. I don't know this awful fuck, and I hope I never end up in a spot getting shot up like this as a monger, but I'm a lot more willing to think this was racially motivated than chop it up to happenstance. To completely dismiss this being racially driven requires mental gymnastics at this point.

Consider this:
Since 99% of massage parlors are Asian I'm heavily leaning towards random incident.
-
Not Really
It's not that implausible to view this as not truly being a racially motivated crime.
If it was truly racial against asians he could have gone to Chinatown and wiped the place out killing dozens or hundreds of asian people. Instead he went to massage parlors. Why?
He was a sex addict and struggling with it. He frequented massage parlors. He relapsed at massage parlors. He was a customer at 2 of the places he attacked. He was lashing out at those who facilitated his addiction and as we know many, in some cities the vast majority, of rub and tug massage parlors happen to be run and staffed by asians.
He actually told police the shootings were not racially motivated. He said that he viewed spas as a "temptation" that he "wanted to eliminate. ".

None of us know what went on inside his mind but it's not implausible to think this wasn't racially motivated.

Some have a hallway leading to the room left and right with no door to get past, and some have a cheap door and lock that can easily be kicked in. Once past that the girls and customers are in the massage rooms, TV room, the washroom, shower, sauna or kitchen. It remains so right up to the back door, which is usually a strong security door. If you're in a room and you hear a gunshot and you run into the hallway, what will you find? A narrow kill zone.
Sure, he could have gone to an Asian market, but those places have lots of places to run to, hide, multiple exits, and canned good you could throw at the mutt in a last ditch attempt to defend yourself.
I absolutely believe he did this because of a conflict between his religious feelings and his sexual addiction. That being said, he had sitting ducks as victims.
As for the media, there is just no way they could not describe this as a hate crime by white people against Asians. You may recall when the pandemic started we hear reports of Asians being targeted in the streets of LA, NYC and SF. From the articles you would think it was white guys doing all the bashing. Then the videos of the incidents came out and what did you see?

Asian granny of around 75 is waiting for the light to change so she can cross the street. Some guy walks up and sucker punches her in the face, so granny grabs a stick (looked like it might have been from one of those advertising signs people hold on street corners) and proceeded to wail on the thugs ass. He got arrested, and yeah, he was some white guy who thought he'd have an easy target. I had to laugh, thinking of what's going to happen to him in gen-pop once it gets out he got his ass kicked by a little old Asian woman.

I have heard some reports that he is married to an Asian. Dude is clearly mentally ill but by every account he has said that he held no animosity towards them as a group. If he did than why would he not proclaim it for everyone to hear?

Some people

Those people can see nothing OTHER than race in every facet of society. Some other people find this racial explanation for everything ridiculous. Those people of course, are the real racists. I'm personally tired of hearing about race all the time. There is no intent to defend this nut job. He defended himself. He shot Asian women because that's who works at Asian massage parlors where he goes for a rub and tug. Why didn't he go to Icelandic or Saudi Arabian massage parlors and subsequently shoot up some people? Because there aren't any Icelandic or Saudi massage parlors.

This is bull$hit
For the County Sheriff to try and humanize the shooter by trying to articulate the shooter's perspective, feelings, and having a bad day. Are you serious?
And then backpaddling by saying oh he was just reiterating what the shooter said. Please explain your anti-Asian t-shirt on Facebook a$$hole.
Of all the incidents even recently where minority related offenders were involved, how many times were their voices articulated?
You go work out, go watch a movie, go talk to your friends and family, play video games, etc when you have a bad day. Killing people is NOT okay when you have a bad day.
As bad as the crime of the shooting is, it is insult to injury how that particular Sheriff exemplifies systemic racism. It is real and deeply rooted behind cowardice. Shine the light and they scamper like cockroaches. They are only "sorry" and apologetic when they get outed and caught.
Hey wake up! The "Model Minority" need to wake up and rise and not take this $hit anymore.
Taking it out on women and the elderly is pure cowardice and despicable. Tell you what, whenever those that want to victimize a woman or elderly, I'm your huckleberry. Come at me.

At this point labeling it as a racist incident or one predicated by an unstable person with an unstable mind. Allow me to offer this, if we as equal citizens of this place we call earth, stood up for the injustices that were actual racial crimes, you give very little room for there to be this expanded belief that every act perpetrated on a person of a different color is racism, or racist. I stand before you as a black man and I tell you unequivocally, if a black person committed a crime he should be held accountable, but I can tell you that at no point have I ever seen a law enforcement person describe that individual as having a bad day. This is just one mongers opinion, if you as white people want to stop being accused of be racist when the acts are questionable as to the motive, do this, stand up for what's right and not what's white!
