Bought one of those and went to use it, and it wouldn't even work.

I been using a Tracfone for the last 8 years. Had to replace it once because I wor out the buttons. For the price ($20) , you can't do better IMO. Bill Ho.

Bill Ho.[/QUOTE]I've had much better luck with Virgin Mobile and Net 10, bought a Tracfone and set it up, went to use it about two weeks later and it had some sort of connection error that I couldn't fix. Never had any problems like that with the other companies.

I had read about the burner phone app in the forums before but could never take advantage of it because it was an iOS app. Great news, it's now available for android.

The purpose of Burner is to create 'disposable' phone numbers that can be used for calls and SMS, then conveniently erased from existence I will be checking this one out, probably cheaper than carrying 2 phones around and seems pretty simple to use.

It's not free you have to pay for the minutes and text. It can't be traced to your phone number. It uses your data connection not the cellular connection to make calls and send texts. Got to love smart phones.

In a case like mine the burner app is more handy than another phone which may be hard to explain to my SO if she ever found it, especially if I don't delete the call and text history. The app is just one of many on my iphone which she won't even know what it is. For my situation, it's much safer.

Put the app into DND when not using. Turn off alerts and you are invisible to the gals. Need a new number, just get a new one with another throw away gmail acct.
