Did some research and found a promising spot and set up an appointment. But you could probably get started from scratch for about $50 K. That's assuming building up a client base, hiring workers and being ready to hold on until you're up and running. That's back of the napkin with a drink in my hand math.

Don't know business real estate. But your going to have to be able to find workers. Without a connection and being able to have a steady supply of workers, it could be tough to start up. Remember, a lot of these "mama sans" have worked up through the ranks. Even then, I think most of them are still not the "owner" of the shops.

They want to make sure your background is as clean as your money.
