Hey. I was on another website and I just saw a post saying that someone heard that PT might close up in 6 months. And that the whole area around there has been bought by some korean development company. Has anyone heard anything about this? I'm scouring the news wires as we speak trying to find evidence to the contrary.

Although the Advertiser news report doesn't specifically say that relaxation/massage businesses on the property will close, it does state: "The buyers will likely tear down the aging buildings to make way for a mixed-use commercial complex that could include retail and office space and condominiums, people familiar with the deal said." If the Advertiser's map of the property (below) is correct, among the businesses located on that parcel are Pine Tree, China Spa, Young's Massage, Centerfolds (strip club), and several hostess bars. However, some of those businesses might move to different locations rather than permanently close.
Kapalua is correct. The new owners are not willing to negotiate lease extensions. Instead, they are waiting for the leases to expire so they may knock down the entire block. They own the block from Rycroft to Liona Street. That would be from Youngs Massage to Sorabol Restaurant and eastward to the edge of the Pagoda Terrace property.

Unlike some places in their Asian homelands, IMHO the AMPs here are pretty much "foreigner friendly". Here, it's more about the money than your ethnicity.

You could probably figure it out roughly yourself. You have to consider many things. For instance, how many hours per day is the AMP open? Some are open 24/7 in some cities. But let's assume for the sake of argument that this particular one is open 12 hours (a conservative assumption). We'll assume it's open 7 days a week except for holidays.
Let's assume further that this spa has an average of four girls working and that they get enough traffic that in any given hour two girls are working. Some customers will choose a 1/2 hour session and others will choose 1 hour sessions. But to simplify we'll assume every customer takes a 1 hour session and that they all choose FS. Normally the mamasan will enforce some sort of rotation in order to keep all the girls happy. So based upon our assumptions we'll say that our fictional hottie serves one customer every two hours. So in a twelve hour day she may server 6 customers.
Assume she gets to keep the whole tip and that the tips average $100.00 per customer. So in one week our girl will see an income of 6 times 7 times $100.00 or $4,200. Let's round it up to $5,000.00.
So that's an average of approx. $20.000 per month. Tax free. But we all know that the organ that these gals use is not meant for that much fucking. Then there's the mental and emotional strain. So although theoretically a gal could make nearly 1/4 million per year, it's more reasonable to assume she makes somewhere in excess of $100,000 per year, tax free.

There is also a $20 discount advertisement for Smile Spa in the sports section of the Honolulu Advertiser. (However, there have been some unfavorable reports about Smile Spa in the forums.)

Smile Spa changed owners. They did some cosmetic renovations but basically the same setup. Used to be Korean owned and they took more pride in the type of workers. Now Vietnamese owned and the girls there are sub par. mix of mainland haole providers and viet over-the-hill. Overall the service has dropped. They just want to get you in and out as fast as possible.
SS used to be my favorite place, but with the new sub par providers I'm looking to find a new fav place.
