Sounds like you got hit by a CL scammer. Those are usually ads in the CL Casual Encounters section where if you respond the "person" says some shit like "because there's some psycho killing people on CL I want you to make a profile and verify yourself with a credit card through some site, it only takes a minute, and send a message to my profile there and I'll send you my number".

Providers are on BP, not CL and they generally don't request verification. But, like vamassagefan said, you can get verified through date-check or provider411 and providers can verify you through those sites. They do ask some personal questions (name, occupation, etc) , but you don't get signed up for porn and shit.
