Does Not Mean It's Effective
Yea I guess it depends on the study. Some studies have shown 100% effectiveness and others have shown between 88% and 98%. Keep in mind these studies mostly contain high risk groups such as gay men who have unprotected anal sex. The odds of you getting HIV in America as a straight man not having unprotected anal sex are extremely low to begin with. If you look at the numbers if you have unprotected vaginal and oral sex with 2500 women that have HIV you may get it from one of them. And that is if all of them have HIV. So with Truvada somewhere between 90% and 100% the odds go to nearly zero for straight men. I think it really depends if you are taking it properly as some people will not in studies. I am always amazed that more people do not know about this drug.
Here is a quote from the study that tracked 600 high risk people over 2. 5 years and not one of them contracted HIV:
"In this study, 100 percent of the participants remained HIV-free. That's right, not a single person in the study, published in Clinical Infectious Diseases, became infected while on the drug during the study period that included 2. 5 years of observation. ".

As always everyone should take as many precautions as they can. I will let a woman perform a BBBJ however I always use condoms for vaginal and anal sex and I take Truvada on top of that. I enjoy this hobby but do not want to die over it!
Perhaps it is effective, but maybe if the subjects were not taking the Rx they still would have not gotten HIV because perhaps the group never ended up having sex with someone on HIV! I mean, no one would expose himself to HIV via sex with a person with full blown AIDS, even if taking this Rx. So, if the people taking the Rx were lucky or careful then they did not get HIV regardless of taking or not taking the Rx.
I would not bet my life on such studies.
