When the girl shows up, no one answers the door or whomever answers has no idea what's going on. Efforts to contact the person making the date fail because he (or whoever it is) isn't responding. They've just wasted a bunch of time getting ready for a date only to find out it was essentially a prank. They know guys hate deposits because too many fakes / flakes request deposits and then disappear after its paid.
