Fear And Mongering In Chicago
I thought I'd relate an experience I had this evening and see what the board thinks.
I usually don't have a lot of time for mongering and when I do get time it is usually at the last minute. It's not the best way to monger but I've had pretty good luck with O'hare Asian apartment girls on short notice. That was the situation this evening. I got some free time and felt like a little Asian. I saw a new ad on E-s that had pix of a hot young thing (for what pix are worth). I think the ad was brand new because no rate was listed. I called, and the mamasan said she was available. I asked for the rate and was told it was the standard $.6 for the hour. She told me to go to a certain intersection and call back. I said that I had used the service before and offered the name of a nearby apartment complex. Mama said,"that's the one." I told her I'd call when I got to the complex, she said that was fine.
I was nearby, so I got there in about 12 minutes. I pulled into the driveway and proceeded to the parking lot. The first car I see, in the first spot in the lot, is a standard issue unmarked LE vehicle. My first thought was that someone in the building bought a decommissioned cop car. The car was parked nose first and as I got closer I saw the front spot lights were there. This is not unusual for ex-cop cars. As I drove by I looked into the rear window and saw a full set of Mars lights mounted to the back dash. This is not usual at all. I don't think there is any way they would sell a decommissioned cop car with the strobes intact.
I thought that there were a few ways to explain the presence of this car: 1) a LEO there on a private matter; 2) a LEO lives there; 3) LE was called for some reason, or 4) LE is running a sting. Honestly, I thought the first 3 made the most sense because that car was parked where only a blind idiot could miss it. I drove around the lot & all the visitor parking spots were taken. This gave me time to think. I decided to park on the street. I parked on the street and was about to call mamasan to get the apartment # when I had second thoughts. I figured this was going to go 1 of 2 ways. I was either going to get up to the apt, plunk down the donation and have a good time with a hot young Asian thing or I was going to get to the apt, plunk down the donation and hear LE knocking at the door.
At this point Mr. Happy was doing the thinking for both of us. I figured that if I got to the apartment and things didn't seem right I could wiggle my way out of it if I was smart and careful. Then it hit me like a slap in the face. I had broken a basic rule of mongering! I HAD TALKED ABOUT MONEY ON THE PHONE! I'm not sure if that is enough to get me arrested as soon as I walked in the door but I wasn't about to take any chances. I called Mamasan & told her my car broke down & got out of there.
There it is. Was I too paranoid? Could I have been arrested in the apartment because of what was said on the phone? What would you have done?
