OR in Rensselaer I have used the Econo Lodge - 110 Columbia Turnpike, (Route 9 & 20) going up the hill when getting off the Dunn Memorial bridge on the right hand side of the road, maybe 1-2 miles up. Unlike the Lawrence Motel, you go in the office and tell them you only need the room for the hour or two.

It's nothing fancy but it is probably the best choice for Schenectady. Days inn. On Nott terrace. I usually ask for the buisiness suite which is like a double room with a couch and chair in a sitting area. Nice king bed. It'll run about $75 or so but for the little extra, it's far better than the Americas best value or the other less than adequate places on State street. The holiday inn used to be nice but expensive and it's since closed.
