I've had a few SBs try to get my plate number on our first meeting (some ask, some just kind of go for it). I've always thought it was just a funny and mostly pointless "security measure" for them, and didn't really mind. I mean, it's not like you can steal someone's identity or open up a new credit card if you have their plate number. Am I being too careless about this though? Can an SB who has that info use it in some harmful way?

I can think of a few problems arising out of that.

I wouldn't offer up any identifying information -- license plate, cell phone -- until you have met and verified she is not crazy and you want to pursue. You are just asking for trouble. There is no reason for them to ask for that info.

A PI, LE family member, etc. All it would take is a spoiled baby who's real Father is on the warpath with a few bucks to invest. You have to drive to meet these babies. After all, Babies know what Hotel (room) they visited on what day if they are paying attention. The bottom line, treat the SBs well and try to end things in a gentlemanly way and all but the most psycho will not make the effort. They don't want anyone knowing what they are up to either. Can you imaging a 20 yr old's father knowing his Baby is banging Gramps? He might kick her ass ,send her to counselling, and ground her forever. Hollywood reported here last year that he has some experience with that.

I really need to limit my stable to 1, but I think I will do alternate weeks. It's literally big letters and digits on the back of the car. If she follows me somewhere after the initial meeting, she has it. Or if she figures out which car is mine, or if we take my car and she walks past it on the way to the passenger side. It only takes a second to snap a pic, if her memory is not reliable. So the ones who ask are just more polite than the ones who don't ask, but both kinds can get that number easy enough. I don't really see many ways around it, other than scheduling everything within walking distance. And that's not a great option.

Other than that, well, I'm not married and I always treat them well. I suppose running into a psycho (or her psycho relatives) is something to worry about, but that's true for a lot of things, not just sb-sd relationships.
