Wow that's crazy. I didn't realize hotel management had to cooperate with cops. I understand that dingy notels in shady areas could be havens for SW and drug use, so that does make sense.

But given how every other motel here has providers living there from time to time (extended period, visiting) and random johns walking in (I feel like most regulars would know how NOT to stick out like a sore thumb), my impression was that hotel management couldn't care less.

Good tip on googling hotel layout before hand. Other regulars have pointed out that you should arrive early and get an understanding of the layout physically and look out for any red flags.
