Be specific in your ad as to what you are looking for. Make them insert a code word in reply, that way you know a person actually read it and not a bot.

If you don't get a response in an hour or 2, its so far down the page no one reads it. I agree with the code word, it helps to weed out some of the spammers (but not all). It seems that CL ads do not reap the benefits that it use to.

Same can be said about answering Backpage or any other ads. Away be on high alert.

I think CL, on average, may be more risky than BP and even more so compared with more upscale sites such as Eros or 411. My reasoning is that advertisers for the most part have a business to protect so are unlikely to do something stupid. Of course, it is important to determine they have a business to protect.
