Police put stop to local prostitution

A prostitution ring in Albertville, with annual revenues estimated to be more than $800,000, was put out of business Tuesday evening, according to Albertville police Chief Benny Womack.
In a press release Wednesday, Womack said the ring was operating a brothel in Beck’s Kilpatrick Trailer Park at 1316 Kilpatrick Road near Albertville.
A traffic stop on Sunday by Albertville police Officer Juan Gomez-Lopez led to the arrests of Leon Miguel Martinez and Jose Fernandez Gonzalez.
The arrests of Martinez and Gonzalez, and subsequent investigation, provided information leading to Beck’s Kilpatrick Trailer Park.
Albertville’s newly formed Vice/Narcotics Unit converged on the trailer park and discovered a brothel being operated from trailer No. 41.
Inside the trailer, officers discovered Elias Miranda and two females, one of whom is suspected to be under the age of 18.
Miranda is alleged to be the gatekeeper or operator of the brothel.
Womack said investigators believe the females are two of an undetermined number of Hispanic females who might have been smuggled across the U.S. border from Mexico.
“A number of the females,” Womack said, “are brought into the country by smugglers referred to as ‘coyotes.’”
Coyotes are alleged to make as much as $2,500 for their services.
According to Womack, some of the women allegedly are coerced into prostitution to pay off a fee for smuggling them into the U.S., believed to be as much as $4,000.
Following the raid of the brothel at Beck’s Kilpatrick Trailer Park, a search warrant was obtained to search Martinez and Gonzalez’s residence at 469 Reed Road in Guntersville.
At the residence, officers discovered $10,000 in cash as well as a semi-automatic pistol.
The raid and arrests were the result of an intensive five-month investigation by the Vice/Narcotics Unit with assistance from Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall’s office.
Martinez, Gonzalez and Miranda are illegal aliens and are being charged with “promoting prostitution,” a class-C felony that carries a sentence of one to 10 years.
Five other individuals were detained for questioning. Four of them are illegal aliens and have been taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Womack added, “We have developed information leading us to believe a prostitution ring has existed in our area for about seven years.” Albertville’s investigation uncovered ties to other brothels being operated in the North Alabama area.
A portion of that information, according to Womack, allowed Albertville’s Vice/Narcotic Unit to provide Decatur’s police department and its vice/narcotics officers with information about a prostitution operation in Decatur belonging to the same ring.
Womack said the prostitution ring was the vice unit’s first priority following its creation.
“We are 90-percent certain there is no other prostitution ring operating within the police jurisdiction of Albertville,” Womack said. “However, we will continue to investigate any information that comes to our attention.”
He said there is a possible connection to gang activity.
Marshall said, “This is not something we want in our city. We have taken down the leaders and stopped the crime.
“They [Martinez, Gonzalez, and Miranda] will not be going anywhere until this case is prosecuted.”
According to a statement of one of the women arrested at Beck’s Kilpatrick Trailer Park, made through an interpreter, she said the boss was a superstitious man who had the interior of the trailer strewn with strings of garlic and several religious icons.
Womack said, “It obviously didn’t work.”
Haven't heard of the AMP in Gadsden
Is it legit? I'd go today. References for active member?
Leftfoot, if only the famous Platinum Club were still open, if only. That place had most anything. I think the scene is Anniston is not that active right now. It probably didn't help for the military base to close down. I can't recall seeing an AMP there. In the past I have seen escorts advertising on the net that cited Anniston as their area of business. Anniston is known for outlaw biker activity so there has to be some SW action somewhere, I'm just not seeing it.
There is an apartment AMP in Gadsden. The phone number is 256-295-8804. I've not tried them yet but intend to soon. I hear they are kind of pricey but then there isn't much competition.
In regards to SWs in Gadsden, I have occasionally seen one on Broad Street (east side of the Coosa River) but that has been pretty rare. I haven't ventured into the other areas mentioned by CK. I've seen other SW activity but it looks to have been phone generated, like when a pimp delivers a girl to a trucker.
Some guy was arrested with a MILLION DOLLAR BOND
They give murderers $200k bonds but Porn, especially 2 counts is 5 times as serious!
You've GOT to be kidding me !
I have visions of the cops beating my door down, stealing all my porn and spending days watching it and then saying, one of them looked under 18 and arresting me.
Meanwhile, the crime rate continues to soar.
