I was planning to use [URL]STDcheck.com[/URL], but realized I probably shouldn't wait a few more days to begin treatment. I decided to go to the St. Louis County Sexual Health Clinic on Jennings Station Road.

I'm glad I did. It's set up for testing and treatment. It's a little bit of a drive for people who live South, but it's not that bad. I was in the area for other reasons, so I decided to stop by one morning. The listed opening time 8 AM, but people can enter earlier than that. It's first come, first serve. No appointments. You are assigned a number upon arrival. I was able to start filling out the paperwork early. I had to show my ID, but not insurance information. I was told the services are free. You need to provide your name, address, phone number and SSN on the paperwork. There are also other fields for email, emergency contact and income. I was told I didn't need to provide all that information if I didn't want to. There was also another page where you indicate the reason you are there: you are showing symptoms, your partner tested positive, you are picking up PrEP, etc. After the paperwork was processed and I signed the HIPAA and consent forms, I was sent to a smaller waiting area by the examination rooms. The setup is very similar to a doctor's office. After a little wait I was called in. The medical assistant took my vitals and asked questions about why I was there, medical history, recent activity, etc. I had to explain what I had done, but not who it was with, fortunately. I had the impression they had seen it all before and probably had a good idea why I was there, anyway. After a wait the nurse practitioner came. She asked a few more questions, explained a few things and started the exam. She checked for rashes or other indications, then had me drop everything so she could get a good look. I thought it was interesting that she was basically fondling me a bit to do the exam, but I really wasn't in a mood to enjoy it. LOL. She then inserted a small swab to take a sample for some of the tests. That hurt for a few seconds, but wasn't too bad. It was by far the worst part of the visit. I had to wait again, then went to another room where the blood samples were drawn, a finger prick for the rapid HIV test and two small vials for the other tests. The labs that do the testing are on site, but it takes a few days for the results. I then went back out into the waiting room. That wait was about 20 minutes. It gave me plenty of time to think about things. I was called back in and met with another lady for a consultation in her office. She provided the results of the rapid test and explained they don't want people to leave until that is done. I must admit I was a little concerned about that one considering some of the girls I have seen on the stroll. (I know. I was stupid for even seeing them, but you usually don't do rational things when you really want some.) She then went over the testing process and discussed different STDs and the problems they can cause. The presentation was geared more for the younger crowd, but was still very helpful. We then talked about various things for a few minutes. The discussion was straight forward and open, but not prying or uncomfortable. I was a bit surprised at how easily we discussed some of the topics. She then provided the antibiotics and instructions for using them. She also provided the paperwork and instructions on how to obtain the test results. I was then sent on my way. I was there for a total of approximately two hours. Overall, I was very pleased with the process. I went there feeling somewhat embarrassed and ashamed, but I didn't need to be. Everybody I encountered was very friendly, helpful, understanding and professional. I didn't receive any lectures or disgusted looks. I highly recommend the clinic if anybody needs those services. The wildlife available for rent just pops up for a little while & disappears, depending on who needs things & stuff, at any hour, any day. If anything, the fishing there and elsewhere is thinned out a bit more due to those that've been taken out of the pond by getting shot or keeled over & croaked from the fentanyl. But if you haven't already, you may want to add Wells (the dark narrow speed-bump infested street one block south that parallels MLK) from Hody at the west end down to Clara Ave or maybe Arlington to make a loop of it. Several go out to work at some corners on that less visible side street, off & on.

If you get carried away with doing that loopy-loo 'till the needle on your car or in your stomach is creeping toward "empty" I do NOT recomend pulling in to get gas or anything else at the 24 hr Murder Mobile Ghetto Gas & "Crown Food Mart" that's located right there between MLK & Wells on the east side of Clara. Not even in broad daylight, middle of the day. A bunch of the working girls (I've lost count how many) who are no longer alive got that way going to buy a little sumpin' in that parking lot, along with more than of few of their informal pharmacists, business agents, clueless customers, random bystanders, and whatnot. It seems STL finest and the fine citizens of stroll areas have successfully completed their task of keeping the sidewalks just for people HONESTLY going from one place to another. I have enjoyed reading stories about dreams and even MIRACULOUSLY seeing pictures of said dreams from the fellow posters on this board.

Just remember that things do change and sometimes for the good. Maybe like this instance of the streets drying up? Now it's time to ride down the roadways of all the know areas and actually "scope" out the history and the architecture that is in the area.
