You're right to an extent, but LA isn't desolate. 2007 has been a good year for affordable surprises for me, at least.

Yes and no. I've mongered in TJ. A LOT. And so it goes without saying that harrassment from police can be part of the territory. However I've only had one encounter with Mexican EVER. And that was because I was drunk and about to get into a fist-fight with a cab driver. Logic would seem to want to tell you that a single guy would be an easier target for LE but whenever I've seen the cops harrassing Americans it's always guys in groups. My guess is because when we get together the testosterone levels shoot up, with the help of alcohol of course, and we act belligerent. Which makes us easy targets.
