Tracphones are readily available at retail outlets.
Anyone aware of a shortcoming with these? Is it obvious when you call or text that you are using a burn phone?

They're cheap enough that if you need to permanently break contact with a crazy chick, you can just dump the phone and get a new one with a new phone number with no regrets. The only drawback I have experienced is that the numbers do get recycled quite a bit so I do get a fair amount of texts obviously aimed at a previous owner.

In other words, do they have a way of figuring out if we're calling from a regular carrier, like Verizon or Sprint, or if we're using an anonymous pay-as-you-go service like Tracfone?
I completely understand a provider's safety concerns but the hobby is a two-way street and clients have legitimate privacy needs.
I know some providers use an app called "Mr. Number," which claims to feature enhanced caller I. D. Anyone have experience with that? I haven't used it so I don't know how it works or how accurate it is.

No internet. I do wish I had gotten one with a full standard keyboard. Some of the phones have double or triple minutes. Research the phone before you buy.

Cost was. 3 and minutes are. 2 for 3 months and they give you triple minutes for that phone which is impossible to use and it even rolls over if you get a nother 3 month card.
All available for cash at Wal-Mart. Can pretty much get area codes local or anywhere you like. Had Wal-Mart "expert" set everything up in store. No personal info required.

Everything you do on Google Voice is logged against your cell phone's unique identifier number by both Google and the WiFi or Cell carrier you are using at the time. A TracFone that is bought with cash and registered on a public computer (library) using a Tor browser will be exponentially harder to trace back to the user. To my knowledge, I have never had a provider not answer a text or call from one of my many TracFone numbers. Also make sure you never use it near home or work.
