I tell all of them I have had many past SB's. If its just a first date I may neglect to mention that I am currently seeing a few girls (but sometimes I do for a variety of reasons). And if they are gonna be around for even a couple of dates it would be impossible to hide. I've not yet met one that minded that at all, in fact they mostly seem to prefer it. Most of them are attracted to assertive types, SDs who know what they want and can state their "requirements" clearly. Having experience with past SBs helps to establish that image.
Another advantage of having an "old" profile might be that it lets them know you're probably safe to meet (the SB sites would delete a profile if it got reported frequently).

I may be generalizing here, but from my limited sample size I've gotten used to a few common traits: Family priorities can make them iffy with scheduling dates (large families and always something going on). Anyone with any very creative ideas here on how to handle this? I feel responsible for having brought him into this. Confessing to either his wife or the girl, is not going to be an option. I think as a just in case, your friend should see a divorce attorney so that he can be prepared for worst case scenario. Trying to buy off the girl will just lead to more trouble if she keeps coming back to the cash cow.
This might be crazy, but since you're single is it possible for you to slowly slide into her life and deflect some of that unwanted attention / afffection? You'd be taking one for the team but if you can get an "introduction" and offer her the attention and the "future" she craves, she may lose interest in your friend. Eventually, she'll be your crazy to deal with.

Others will have creative ideas that will be more user friendly than mine. However, after just surviving a divorce after 20 years of marriage that ultimately ended due to similar issues, I say he should tell his Wife about the girl. Will it end their marriage? It might. But from what you shared there was some decay there to begin with. On the other hand, the marriage might survive it. Other marriages do. All of you who are able to snare these lovely lasses, do you treat any of them like girl friends even occasionally I. E. Take them out for dinner, dancing etc which would mean that you do not have a SO to worry about.
