If the police are doing an investigation, or if someone files a police report on your fake app number they can contact the app company and ask for all of the data they have on you, which would include your real phone number. Then once they have that it's not hard for the police to get your name and address and locate you. It's not as secure as you think, so be careful.

They can also find where a burner phone was purchased, and subpoena retailers for security camera footage of the event. 9/10 companies would hand it over if asked.
