Camel, you are spot on. Please let us know what kind of response you get back from her after she hears a quality client's side.
This issue may have a tad bit more energy / legs because John & Ken on KFI640AM have sensationalized it as well, citing the L. A. Times story. When you have John barking "erotic massage parlors are WHOREHOUSES people. Men go there to seek sex from asian PROSTITUTES". It amplifies the sory well beyond whatever range the L. A. Times has. Hopefully they won't spend too much more energy on it, there are plenty of tax issues in need of their spotlight.
Today's L. A. Times editorial with included interactive maps of the massage parlors listed. Be safe out there fellas.
The problem is here you have a young female reporter who is clueless about MP commerce. Even if she wants to report the story from all sides, the Mamasans, owners and massage girls certainly aren't going to talk to her. Mongers sure as hell aren't going to talk to her. So that leaves her with LE spokespersons lying through their teeth and tossing out emotional triggers like the "T" word to fire up public passion against these businesses. The only other people who will talk to her are the opponents of the business who are also full of lies. E. G. The restaurant owner who reported seeing 15-20 men go in and out of the adjacent rub and tug in a short time, and they spent about 15 minutes inside. Is that so? Doesn't sound like any are&t I've ever frequented where hour sessions sell cheap and happy endings pretty much come. Well, at the end. Oh, and this restaurant owner is also running or ran for city council. I see. So it comes down to even honest reporters not being able to get the real story when they investigate what society has turned into an underworld.
But actually, I don't really think this story will blow up big time unless the soulless local news outlets keep their teeth in it. No doubt they'll get their teeth into it in sensationalized stories in tonight's news. But will it have legs? I don't think so unless the public gets outraged, and I don't see that happening.
Myself, I think I'm going to write to this reporter (you'll find her Email address tagged to the stories) and share a little truth with her. Give her a little education that the cops and ambitious morality pimps aren't giving her.
