Was able to get out for a bit and went cruising downtown. No luck, but I was determined to find something. I ended up picking up a skinny long legged BSW at around 11:30 pm on Stanford and 9th. She was wearing a red top and white shorts. Probably 5'8".100. We park and she starts wigging out and paranoid about LE being after her. We go elsewhere and she does it again. I was driving home from work last night at about 9pm and decided to swing by 7th Street to see if there was any action and here is what I saw. On Towne by the school or where they are building the new school were 5 B&Ws all with there lights off several officers had binos and were looking north on Towne. When I got to the intersection of Towne and 8th I saw nothing so I continued North and at Agatha on the northwest corner there was a brunette WSW decoy with what appeared to be a trench coat and looked totally out of place really clean and holsum with a complete set of extra white teeth and as we all know thats not happeneing there. Also on the southwest corner of the same was a large black man with large head phones sitting on an egg crate and acted like he wasnt watching anything but he was. My guess is that he was listening to the wire the decoy had on. Also about 5 car lengths on the same side as the decoy was a dark sedan with tinted windows and had some side damage which also had two guys sitting in it. I don't know if anybody got caught and as dead as it was last night as much as I wanted to stay and watch I couldn't because I would have been picked off in a minute. Also beware I don't know about LAPD but I'm sure they are no diffrent LEO has the ability and they do have cars with out of state plates and cars that look like they came from the junk yard. The officers themselves also have the ability to get an out of state DL for undercover stings which they aquire through agreements with other states. Stay safe.

LE is getting very serious about arresting Johns now these days. I know a couple of men who were sent to Pelican Bay after they got convicted of solicitation of prostitution. You think LE would pursue more dangerious criminals these days but no.

Law Enforcement MAY be getting serious about arresting Johns these days, although I haven't seen that, and it is not something that makes a lot of sense in my experience (they've always done sporadic reverse trick or John stings) , but I will guarantee you that men are not going to Pelican Bay for solicitation of prostitution.

Either you know a lot of seriously hardened guys who were level 4 prisoners (people with the highest number of disciplinary points and convictions for the most serious offenses) who have been paroled and then violated for solicitation of prostitution and sent back to prison for that violation, or you know a lot of guys who are not only soliciting prostitutes but are also raping them. Either that or you're mistaken in a huge way.

Prostitution, and just about every crime associated with prostitution EXCEPT those involving minors, pimping and pandering, or doing prostitution after having been informed you're HIV positive is a misdemeanor, meaning the very worse sentence you can get is county jail. There is no state prison for misdemeanors, and not only is Pelican Bay a state prison, but it is one of the highest security state prisons.

Even assuming we're talking about pandering or some other felony of the sort, it does not send you to a level 4 yard so you can hang with lifers and other majorly violent people.

So no, you do not know a couple of people who were sent to Pelican Bay for solicitation of prostitution.

Finally, realize that in these types of "quality of life" crimes, the police go after the low hanging fruit. The lowest hanging fruit, and the easiest to bust, are women walking down the street in short dresses, flagging down cars with lone male motorists, getting in to those cars for no apparent reason other than 1) they're total nymphos and are looking for guys to bang, or 2) they're prostitutes. Convincing a jury that anything besides #2 is correct is quite difficult, so the cops keep doing it, and juries tend to keep convicting.

The next easiest thing to do is watch some guy pick up a girl, or troll for a bunch of girls, follow the guy to the spot where he does the deed and catch him with his pants down. Either that or arrest him on the way for 653. 22. Loitering with the intention of doing prostitution. But that's harder to prove, so it's not done as often as trying to catch them in the act. Solution. Get a room, or drive a long distance and do some majorly evasive driving, and keep your wits about you when you stop. Either way, you should be able to avoid being caught with your pants down.

Finally, it's a big pain and a huge operation for the police to put female cops out on the street and pretend to be prostitutes. It's far more dangerous, far more man-power, and therefore, while it's done, it's done far less often. You've all seen the advice out here for that. If it looks TGTBT, it probably is. Don't negotiate with someone outside the car, if she isn't strolling, but is staying in one place, it's a bad sign. If she refuses to get in, it's a sign. I'm not saying you shouldn't be careful, obviously you should (especially if you have more to fear than just an arrest. Such as losing a job or your wife and family). I thought Pelican Bay was too harsh. Hell, we're fucking not killing. I think they may be training new UCs in preparation for summer. Just my hunch.

I rolled up on a UC on 7th & Crocker in my early days and I was able to walk away. She didn't jump in & we never discussed $ or act. I pulled up, asked if she wanted a ride, she asked if I wanted a date, I said no, and drove away. I eventually saw the hidden B&Ws and the civilian car with tinted windows all around with two guys sitting inside. Since that day I always recon a track unless it's jumping with SWs everywhere. I've sniffed out two other stings because of it by finding the hidden take-down units during my recon.

We all might have to monitor what Vice is doing this summer.
