I'll second the perception that there is often some deep trauma behind some D / S kinks. There may be some that are trying to stroke our ego when they say they like older guys, but most of the girls I know have a very genuine attraction to older men, and my observation has been that this is not necessarily tied to any form of sexual abuse. I do think it is more environmental than genetic -- their upbringing, relationships with male relatives etc. Can completely impact their age preference, but I'm not sure that's the only factor.
