She doesn't need your info
Looking for some advice from a more experience hobbiest. I have a provider I want to see and reached out to schedule. She wants copy of my I'd and email from my work email address to verify my employment. I def understand some of the more professional or upscale providers want verification done, but not sure what's too much or risky to be giving all of that out.
Provider has been around a while plenty of reviews and social media presence. I've just only really been on Seekingarrangement so far which doesn't need that sorta verification, so curious if everyone else is so willing to give out work info.
Your identification and employer are none of a provider's business. Neither is your photo or any other type of personal identifying information. Once you've given out such information, you've lost control of it. Plus there's always the possibility it could fall into the hands of Uncle LEO or someone else who could do you harm. The best response to such a request is to thank the provider and move on.
They don't- why should you

My concern is providers do not provide the same level of verification that they are who they say they are to you. So why should you provide it to them? Half the time it's a crapshoot for all of us until the door opens up and it confirms that the person opening the door is not the one in the ad. Plus your work IT Department, if they're any good, are going to see your email and raise their eyebrows and that's grief you just don't need. Lots of hobbyist go through the trouble of having burner phones. And this policy completely negates that.
Good luck.
