Last Heather update and then time to move on
I'm not the "buddy" he is referring to, however this is one of those things that makes me irate. When providers don't have the phone glued to their hand all day is beyond me. Understandably during another appointment I'm not going to get a response, but FFS if you know someone is en route for a date KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PHONE! When I'm in contact with a provider, I check it 100 times a minute. Timely responses are a must.
My buddy told me it went down like this, first text at 3:45, explained he was a senior on here, offered to provide references, asked for availability. She texted back within a minute saying she would love to meet. He sent one back asking if 5 pm was cool and for donation requested.rate sent back within minutes, confirmed time. Getting ready to leave at 4:30, sent a text stating he was on his way and he would CALL (key word) when he got close. She sent one back telling him to make sure he brought the donation requested which had increased by $10, no big deal, he was already in route.
When he got near he sent text right about 5 asking which exit, received an answer right away...got to the exit, sent another and no reply.he turned down a dead end side street, got stuck in snow for a minute, got back on the road, sent another text, no answer. Pulled off and parked, sent another, no answer, 10 minutes later said fuck it, sent one last one blowing her off and then put her number on his spam list.
He looked last night and had received a text at 5:44, saying "you said you was going to call, not text, I was in the tub".
So, benefit of doubt, he did say call...don't know if that makes any difference in my mind...if you have a 5 pm and you don't check your phone for almost 45 minutes? Maybe she ignored the text alerts coming in, waiting for a call? Maybe she decided at few minutes after 5 to take a long, soaking hot bath? Regardless, I call BS.
I don't buy into the checking you out carefully scenario either, that is total crap if they do that with no intention of meeting. To waste almost 1.5 hours of a mongers time for what? It did not serve any value to the provider as this post proves.
Time wasted but $ saved for another day.
The scavenger hunt has been going on for years....
I see here a lot of reports about this multiple call, scavenger hunt to the next clue, system that seems the prevail in the hobby. My questions is, "Why would you even leave your house without an address? The way it's making it sound, you guys are trying to plan a kidnapping ransom drop with pitstops to shake any tails you might have.
"Take Exit 4 and text to get further instructions.". Really?
Does it really increase any kind of safety for anyone to do this kind of multiple call system? If she wants to make sure your references check out before she gives you an address, then wait in the comfort of your home until she's done! Other than going to the hotel parking lot, and getting a room number because sometimes she won't get a room until she has a confirmed apt., does it really serve a purpose not to have the address already before you even start your drive? Just tell her, "I'm not leaving until I get an address.". If she doesn't give you one, then find another provider. (In case you didn't notice, there's a whole section devoted to providers and their contact information).
Guys, you really need to break the real world habit of catering to the whims of the pussy. She is not doing you a favor. You're the one doing the hiring and you're the one with the cash.
It's most common the first time a guy meets a lady, after that the lady tends to be a bit more specific with regard to where to find her.
A few years ago I had one lady's handler tell me to head to the DrawBridge in Ft Mitchell and text for the room number when I got there. I sent the text at 5 minutes before my scheduled time and got told "Ok get back on 75 south and get off at Turfway", so by the time the scavenger hunt was over I was 15 minutes PAST my scheduled time.
To say at the least I was a bit pissed about it, but thankfully wasn't in a pinch for time.
