First time I ran into this I didn't know any better and bought the gift cards. Sent pics with card and portion of the receipt as proof. They said just hand them over upon arrival. In the initial texts she (he, it) was very nice and "talkative" but once it went to "deposit" I knew it was a scam.

I will do a deposit with a known or widely advertised (personal website, long running tryst ad, lots of TER reviews) but not with a "new one".
