COLUMBUS, Ohio—A man from Ecuador was killed in a crash Thursday night.
The crash occurred at 10:52 p.m., according to Columbus police.
Thomas Dematteo, of Grove City, was driving a 2001 GMC pick-up truck northbound on Georgesville Road from Parkwick Drive.
At the same time, Luis Garcia, of Ecuador, was driving a 2001 Ford pick-up truck on a gas station parking lot at 1240 Georgesville Road.
As Garcia exited the parking lot, he failed to yield to Dematteo’s vehicle, resulting in a crash.
Garcia and his passenger, Dawn Blazer, of Columbus, were transported to Mt. Carmel Hospital West.
Garcia, 29, was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m.

I've never met her in person though I've talked to her on the phone before; as well as I recall telling her that making a recovery may be hard, but no matter the obstacles can be done. While ILuvIt said that he doesn't know if HIV/AIDS is the cause of her death, as well as neither do I; we can easily theorize from the craigslist ad above of the the likelyhood that HIV/AIDS contributed to her death. We can also easily see that it's unlikely that Paula had life insurance also. While there's a likelyhood that she may had life insurance purchased for her as an infant (her dad likely had a good job with benefits at the time, as well as her family were much more respectable 4 decades ago than they are today); in that case it's likely that her life insurance policy(s) may had later been cashed in and used to buy drugs. Goes to show the unfortunate mentalities of many of the streetwalkers. I really feel for Paula's mother, Linda. It is really a horrible emotional feeling for a woman to have her child die while she is alive, concerning that she carried in her womb for 9 months. The $900 that the cemetery is demanding is just the start of the paying for burial expenses. If they manage to get Paula buried, the Slone family likely will stiff the cemetery the rest of the monies owed them; at least based on the way I know about that family. This family didn't start out that way. When Paula and her siblings were little; at times they traveled cross country with their dad as he was a truck driver and they were a nuclear family with a secure home and had a late model Cadillac before the early '80's. Somewhere along the line something went wrong back in the early '80's. I remember one elderly man telling me "Back in the '50's, everybody had better respect for each other than they do today. " The Slone family certainly isn't the only one that fell down badly in this way, as it happened to many other families too. Basically in the Slone family and many others, family values just simply broke down.
The passages of additional drug and drinking laws; and as well as the additional laws against prostitution certainly didn't help this family at all. So much for about back in the '50's as this elderly gentleman had said, the fact remains that the prostitutes of the 1950's had much easier time picking up the pieces of their lives than the ones of today do. They didn't have computerized prostitution arrest records following them around back then as the streetwalkers of today have to contend with. The result was that back then it was easier to come across cleaner streetwalkers back then than is the case today. Much of these supposed "feel good laws" passed against drugs, drinking, prostitution and so on passed in the last 30 or 40 years had the effect of needlessly destroying many families as what happened to this Slone family.
Even back in the '50's and before, there were already laws in existence on the books concerning prostitution and substance abuse that wasn't so far reaching to the point that they destroyed lives and families as the new laws today do. Instead of passing more new laws, they should had just enforced the old laws already on the books as it was without destroying the SW's lives and families similar to the Slone family. As we can see, the misguided politicians and LE communities essentially created the crime problems we have today with all these dope houses, dirtier SWs than before, and with their newer laws that wrecked many of these individuals and families right into poverty. Yes, We've always had at least a few crimes and always will; but the older laws were still effective enough without destroying the lives of those punished (except murderers of course, they were often swiftly executed back then), and we had less crime to worry about back then as well. The newer laws are too far reaching, and computerized crime records locking people out of jobs. Therefore the once crooks will become crooks again so they can continue to survive as they won't starve willingly. This recent development of employers using credit records to weed out people with poor credit from jobs is another recent development (asides being out of scope with this board) is another so check your credit regularly and pay your bills. These new laws and recent social development likely will make more new criminals as people shut out from jobs won't starve willingly. Therefore, as you can see; we perhaps are now living in the wickedest period of human history as these newer laws and social development create unforgiving miseries for many people. Therefore protect yourself.
What it goes to show is that being a drug addled streetwalker is really hard on the lives of these such women. Being a SW should only be a temporary springboard until something better comes along. Also, it should serve something as part time for the women to make up for monetary shortages they experience with their jobs.
