Double-edged sword. Facial recognition
A comment made in another sugar thread concerned me so I personally investigated. If you have a SO, you really really need to be careful about this.
The website that you need to worry about is pimeyes.com. It is a free facial recognition site. I have been very circumspect about putting my real photos on the seeking site, the only ones I provide are actually of someone not me (but similar to me) and have half the face cut off. However, in private texting, after I have spoken w / someone and am pretty sure I want to meet them, I saw no recourse but to provide a real pic. This is one that has all metadata stripped and has never appeared anywhere on the internet, on social media or anywhere else.
I just ran pimeyes on my one real photo I use for sugari. I have a relatively prominent internet presence because of my profession. That website found 7 instances of my real photos online. One of the finds was of someone else. However, if a girl wanted to search my one provided pic, she would get my *real* name and lots more information about me. This would make me extremely vulnerable to extortion, as I clearly mark on my seeking profile that I am married.
The only mitigating feature of pimeyes is that we can use it against girls.
Searching Pictures / Profiles
I am not asking anyone's advice about giving this girl $ online. Of course I am not going to do that. I was hoping someone could search that photo and tell me it was some well known IG model, or at least find it in some way or another. So I could call 'her' on her bullshit. My memory is that this profile has been on the site for some time, which of course is not necessarily an indication that it is NOT a fake.
I have, on some occasions, given a girl I was just messaging w / a small gift, like a 10 or 20 Starbucks card, with the aim of influencing her. This is obviously for young ones who could be swayed by gestures like that.
I think I have gotten pretty good at searching out profiles but you have to give us more than one picture with the face hidden. Is the girl Asian? Is her age late 20's to early 30's? Is she searching for 'True Love?' Is her area code appropriate for her location? Is it searchable or voip? Does she have an unusual first name? All these are the tells of a scammer (aside from asking money in advance.).
If you want to catch "her" out, keep pestering for more photos. Two things can happen: she will eventually send one that is searchable or she will insist that you have to pay her first. (I always ask for a few free samples to make sure what she is offering is worth the money.) If we get to the popit she is asking for the transfer, say you can only do Paypal and ask for "her" paypal account. It will almost always come back in some guys name because paypal only deals in verifiable accounts linked to banks and or SSN's. The Asian time-wasters won't go that far but the Lagos and Nairobi guys will always share a paypal. Then you can call her out on that. The final catchall is to insist on a video chat. There is no practicable reason to refuse. Any gmail account can video chat these days.
BAM.
