As someone in the legit spa industry, we have data showing that something like 15 million massages have been performed across the country since reopening without a single case of Covid transmission. The caveat is that's with both the client and the therapist masked, and that normally doesn't happen in this hobby, so there's slightly more risk. My go to place for years raised their hourly rate to $70.
Between the effects of lockdowns, and the shit ton of money dumped into the economy by Congress and Trump last year, THAT is were it started.
