So you may have noticed the area around Cali is somewhat barren lately. Perhaps you've wondered why. I did, too, until last Thursday. I stopped by the Taco Truck just behind Cali that night around 11 PM. As I waited for the oh-so-tasty tacos (4 for $5), a lone, brave and clearly scared Latina SW tentatively ventured onto the street. When she hit the corner, about five civilian pedestrians started to rush toward her. They had walkies and cell phones and were very well coordinated. Poor girl couldn't bolt out of there fast enough; I was amazed she could move that quickly in heels. So my tacos arrive, I eat them, and see the group that chased away the girl in a huddle with five or six others. Curious and having nothing to lose, I approach.

Turns out this is a Christian ministry. I didn't get exactly where they were from, but they weren't seeking to run the girl off. Rather, they were trying to engage with her and help her find her {perhaps literal) "come to Jesus" moment. So, there you are. Police, angry neighbors, and now Jesus freaks. I suspect its making that part-time job at Nordstrom's Rack look pretty appealing. Poor Barbi & friends!

This is happening in LA too. I went out on Figueroa about 2 weeks ago and saw lots of clean looking white people (something you don't normally see in that part of town) in SUVs trying to talk to these girls and trying to hand out pamphlets. They were scaring away all the girls.

About two years ago, I was going down the alley in the Zona Rosa, and there was a group of about 5-6 white Jesus freaks trying to convince the street girls to give up their naughty ways. There were two really pretty young girls in the group. I chatted up the one, told her I would give her $500 to go up in the hotel with me for some fun. The look on her face was priceless, almost like she was seriously considering it. She didn't get angry at any rate and just politely said no thanks.

Went up to LA but not much action, so on my way home I stop by HB around 1:30 AM.

Driving south on HB, at Washington I see a cop car and tow truck taking away a pickup, bad sign. I drive around the neighborhood and see a total of 4 girls.
