I'll be the first to admit my apt is small and cluttered at times. Never heard it being called shitty or dirty tho. Very far from both. When You work, go to school, travel, hobby and have a personal life keeping my apartment completely straight isn't a top priority. But mind you there's a huge difference between messy and dirty.
