They normally get one "I'm here" text, and one "I'm here" call. Then I start putting out feelers for other options, to see who bites.

In most circumstances (and yes, this does happen a lot,) the next text they get is "Hey, I guess something came up on your end. I have to bail, but hope to catch you another time," and then I'm driving. If their response is within 5 minutes, I _MIGHT_ actually try to catch them another time. Many of them come back 30 min - 1 day later, with apologies and BS stories. It is simply amazing how many of their family members suddenly wound up in the emergency room, and they raced off to see them there without taking their phone, how many girlfriends who were supposed to have a room ready suddenly told them they couldn't use it, how many of them just decided to take a shower at the time you were supposed to arrive, and made it a long 30+ minute shower, etc.

If they send me several texts to try to get me to come back (yeah, right, like that won't just happen again?) and I want to shut them up, I give them a "no worries, things happen. Won't be free again for a week or so. Text you then," which usually prompts another apology, and then they stop texting.

If they only send a couple of texts, I just ignore them, and move on.

It seriously amazes me how few backpage girls seem to be able to make that first appointment, and my play time isn't so easily found that I can afford to waste it on flakes.
