I saw a trick on tv once that I haven't tried but seems simple and clever. One paid another with say a hundred dollar bill. Tore it in half and gave one half to the other. Said he'd give him the other half when the job was done. That way neither could rip the other off. All each had was a worthless half of a bill. Job done, give the other half, recipient tapes it back together, good as new.
