This was recently discussed on the Raleigh board. To make a long story short, the way this board deals with symbols can cause edits which result in confusing and inaccurate reporting about donations. Using dollar sign codes serves no useful purpose, at least in my opinion, and causes problems. Could I suggest we all use regular numbers for donations: 80, 150, 300, 400, etc. If using dollars bothers anyone then the euphemism roses can be used instead.
