Forgot to mention that I got a red light ticket mailed to me. The camera shows me passing a red light at Clayton and Skinker as I was about to enter the on-ramp to I-64 going east. Is there some way to get out of the $100 fine? What are the consequences of not paying it?
One good thing is no points are assessed, since it's not considered a moving violation, according to the ticket--even though the car was moving, of course. The ticket shows a docket number in the Municipal Court of St. Louis City, and says, "If you fail to pay by the due date on the front of this notice, or you fail to appear in court on your court date, further legal action may be taken against you by the City of St. Louis." What might they do?
I think I read that a large percentage of red light tickets go unpaid, but I might be mistaken.
Hey R-2,
Since they sent you a photo of your infraction, why not send back a photo of a $100 bill?

If the check comes back showing there's a warrant out on you, LEO can pull you over and take you into custody.
Murphy's law having the force it does, that would probably happen when you were driving your latest SW du jour to your chosen trysting place. That would probably interrupt the orderly flow of your day.
Talk to a lawyer about what you options might be; if it's a no-point violation it's probably not worth the hassle of fighting it, though.
Rosco,
You will pass go and will not go to jail, but if left unpaid and ignored you will face larger fines, and if left for an extended amount of time, I believe 90 days(some correct me on this if anyone is more accurate) you will be issued a failure to appear warrant. So I would say pay it.
There is always a risk by not paying the fine. What that risk is may be is hard to determine. My understanding is, there are a couple of types of red-light camera systems. Some only take a picture of the car and license plate. Others take a picture of the car, license plate and driver as well as a video of the infraction. This is why it is a non points ticket, they don't want to prove who is driving. They are only after the revenue and second the safety.
Unless they can prove you are driving, they can't issue a warrant for your arrest, as anyone could have been driving the car. That is where the picture of the driver comes into play. (cover your face when your running a light)
So is it worth $100 to avoid finding out during a date?
Hey R-2,

Thanks for the advice, fellas (and very interesting points, Missery). St. Louis' red light cameras currently don't have the ability to take a photo of the driver, just the license plate. Their web site at ViolationInfo.com shows photos of my car, license plate number, and a video of my car going through the red light--but not a photo of me behind the wheel.
Thanks to Rollamale saying he read something in the Post-Dispatch about red light cameras, I searched STLtoday.com and found a really good article on the system used in St. Louis. I posted the article in the Opinions forum of this board, so as to stay on-topic in this SW thread. According to the article, one guy has accumulated 26 red light violations in St. Louis, but hasn't paid a single one, and nothing has happened to him {chuckle}. Here's a link to the really good Post-Dispatch article that I posted in the Opinions forum of this board. I think you all will enjoy reading it:

We should probably post any further posts about mongers' red light violations in the opinions forum at the link above.
Wow, how dead it was. After an night at WG's, I decided to have a night cap on the way home and hit the South Side. Dead. Dead. Dead. Nobody was out. I cruised up and down Grand, Jefferson, Chip, Cherokee, Penn, S. Broad, and everything in between for about 2 1/2 hours. All I saw was a pretty decent brunette sitting at the bus stop near Grand and Meramec, but she was yapping on the phone and I'm not quite sure she was working.

Thanks,

I pretty much had your luck on Tuesday night after I hit the eastside. I didn't spend that much time. I did two loops and I saw nothing at all. This was between 12:30 and 1:45am. It's either too cold to be out or they're all grabbed up.
Took a cruise down Jefferson, S. Broadway, Grand, Chipewa, Cherokee, Penn, etc. and saw no one. Was sprinkling a bit, though.

I hit the South Side about 8pm for about 2 hours and I ran into a blonde at Gravois & Texas. I pulled off onto Texas, she crossed the street and as she got closer...she got older and heavier.
I passed
Started my cruise about 7:00pm. Did the normal south side loops. No one out-not even low grades. About 8:00pm, spotted a WSW on S. B-way between Fillmore & Bowen(?). Did a second pass and she looked ok. Pulled off on Fillmore and she jumped in. (Michelle was about 5'3-4",38'C', long brown hair, and 140#, smelled real good and had a very, very nice face & eyes -8 or9 in that department ) Did the check and agreed on a car date ( BBBJ--No CIM ) for .25. Drove to a dark side street and did the deed. She was ok, but not spectacular. Was shocked when I started to unload, as she was not ready to move her mouth away & catch in a napkin-said it tasted "nasty" (LOL). Gave her a .10 tip and a Coors Light, would repeat- said FS was on the menu. She did not have a phone, but said she always hangs in the block mentioned above if she is out. Dropped her at the pick up spot and continued to troll!! On a side note/ question, has anyone seen MATF AMY lately- have not been able to make contact with her for several weeks. Be safe & happy hunting. JAMESJ
I'm a little slow reporting. I've been as busy as a one legged man in a Georgia ass kicking contest.
Sunday morning I picked up a blonde WSW on south Broadway just south of bates under the overpass. She said her name is Tina. Probably late 30's, 5'3", 105lbs. Didn't have the best teeth I've seen, but give a pretty good BBBJ. We went in the basement of a house a couple blocks away. Nothing fancy, but was better than a car date. Everything for 40. Tipped an extra 10 for CIM. She didn't have a phone, but said I could knock on her door if I didn't see her out. This was not the same Tina I saw a couple months ago. She probably weighs around 130. I've seen her driving around in a dark suv.
Woodson Rd. report.
I spent about 2 hours today from 3pm to 5pm cruising up and down Woodson from Page north to I-70. Saw only one possible WSW. She was about 5'5", 140lbs. She was walking S on Woodson 3 blocks N of Page. I drove by and noticed that she was blond with a stripe of pink on the left side of her head. I have heard somewhere on this forum that reported a WSW with a pink stripe. Was this her? Does she walk on Woodson? I tried to get a pic of her with my IPhone. But it has a shutter lag, and all I got was a house.
More to follow.
Any info on activity north. South is a long way for me to drive.
