You can sometimes get out of minor traffic violations like going right on red illegally if you act incredibly respectful and apologize and make the cop feel superior. They usually just verbally warn you and let you go.

Never consent to searches. You may not think you have anything in your car, but someone (even a SW you were giving a ride to a week ago) might have dropped something in your car, lodged in the seat, and you could be busted for that if the cops find it, and they will look under the passenger seat where they know you don't sit. There is zero upside to helping them, and they are going to try to trick you into admitting something.

I am trying to avoid NMS and you-haul area with all the LE so I'll probably be around DOT ave more if there is anything worthwhile there.
