I remember a provider outreach program recommending against using mouthwash before or after as it can cause minor cuts or abrasions and open up the possibility of infection. Why it is best when researching to only include peer reviewed articles.

I wasn't trying to write an exhaustive list, just hit the highlights. The real interesting part is going to be when these STD's become antibiotic resistant in the next several years.
