As was posted here a couple of weeks past, Councilwoman Carol Duncan has now introduced a proposal to the City Council to "embarass" both customers and prostitutes by posting their names on billboards, and public access TV upon their arrest.

I for one am grateful to live in a city where homicide, armed robbery, burglary, crack dealing, gang banging, and public corruption have all been eliminated and the only alternative to laying of LEO for lack of anything to do is to harrass customers and working girls.

I find it impossible to defend any law enforcement agency anymore. Several months ago, several friends were checking out bars in Lakeview and happened up these two black guys who were being extremely pushy with a few younger girls outside one of the bars. Observing the elevated voices common in Africa, we moved in to see what was happening. One of my buddies was trying to ‘move in’ on the girls to diffuse the situation (it was obvious that the girls were ready to be somewhere else) and was cut-off by a bruva. Not ones to step down from a fight, the rest of us surrounded the small crowd and acted as if we knew the girls-they were barely smart enough to realize what we were doing and play along. Each of the guys immediately pulled out their badges and tried to turn it into a scene.

Without incident, I asked for their badge numbers and would be filing a formal complaint for their behavior. They just walked away. I feel safe in assuming that all cops are bad cops.

Yes, I heard an update on the 'shame' campaign ordinance last night on the news. It seems it had to be sent to the Public Safety Committee for review, then to the law department to make sure it was constitutional I believe, then back to the Public Safety committee for a vote before it was sent to the council for a vote into law. It seems it's passed the first step as the Public Safety committee sent it to the law department. I might have all these departments and committees all wrong, but there were several places it had to be sent through before it got to the council. I've started watching replays of the council meetings just to see what type attitudes they all have, and I'm certain when it gets before them it'll pass, they let things pass without much knowledge behind it anyway. They denied a business licence to a club in Avondale for no real reason, and the only reason such a big deal is being made over the Texaco in East Lake is they had a bunch of black women come before them and do their best Abraham Woods imitations spewing stuff that really couldn't be true about the owner of said Texaco. Anyway, the thing I see this ordinance causing is it's going to make people like us feel more wary about having a SW in our vehicles, as the cops will use that as an excuse to stop us for no reason other than having a SW in our car if they happen to see such a situation. I had a conversation with a SW the other day about such a situation, and she still holds the idea that they always do that'we're not doing anything wrong'. She was saying they'd hav to have decoys out there and have them do stings for them to get a 'john' to fall into that type of trap. I always try to convey upon them that the cops aren't going to think that way, that they're going to use that to their advantage as they know who the SW are, and just by knowing they could arrest a 'john' and have his picture posted on a billboard, TV or a website it's going to make them feel alot more comfortable harassing the 'johns' than ever before. Just by that ordinance passing, it's going to make the cops feel that if they happen to see you pass them and a girl they know as a SW is in your car, they're now going to more than ever use this as an opportunity to stop you for no other reason than that girl being in your car. The SW's don't think that's good enough reason, but they can't seem to realize that if they've ever been stopped and questioned before by cops and found to be a SW, that they are then forever branded by said cops as a SW regardless of what they're doing- even just getting a ride from someone. Mark my word this type of crap will start. It's going to take the transporting of SW to a location off the main streets alltogether and put it on the darkened side streets.

Just seems to be picking up where our ol' comrades in the former USSR left off...Not to be unpatriotic...Semper FI! I see the cracks of our Roman Empire grow.

I do not intend to piss anyone off, but I am pissed at how the things that really matter in our community are brushed aside and roads are paved for the most stupid of reasons.

A note to people with attitudes that want to send messages claiming they 'asked' something, then saying I will get the same help from them they got from me, nothing. First of all, you can't always expect PM's to be sent or received, so quit getting an attitude before you see if it was received. Secondly, attitudes such as that will not get you anything. Thirdly, when someone only has 12 worthless posts, mostly asking 'for' things, or questions with no informative information, most aren't going to answer a question asked anyway. People that know me on here know I try to help whoever asks me anything, but I'm sure everyone here agrees that people that offer no helpful information, only has a small number of posts and only ask things aren't going to be answered to begin with.

I would be surprised if they post the names on billboards & TVs of arrested johns.

An arrest isnt a conviction and cops make illegal arrests fairly often.

You would have thought her "model city" would have shown it doesnt work worth a crap as they only had one guys picture listed.


Why not just send the foot soldiers out there ? Then the city council can reject their business licenses. Oh wait, they dont have one.

Oh well, the Bham city council is a JOKE just as the East Lake texico thing proved.

The clear issue is not a single of the idiots on the council dares do anything that might get the "minority" which just happens to be about 85% of Bhams voters mad at them.

Oh please don't get me started on the improprieties of how the council, not to mention, most any 'official', try to bend over backwards not to offend the supposed 'minority' in the city- while doing whatever to anybody else knowing nothing will be done about it. The city council meetings are a joke. Watching them is for nothing more than laughs, and has been ever since ones like Aldrich Gunn, Sandra Little, Jimmy Blake and Eddie Blankenship was on the council. Three fourths of the public speakers come up there for nothing more than to push their opinion of how it's so unfair to them or some kind of unfairness they are around, or to just remind people that there it is, we haven't forgotten it. What's unfair is how someone who isn't in the supposed 'minority' would be treated in the same situations they speak of. The thing that most of them don't see, is that the very things they speak of, most of us are beyond thinking in terms like that, and wouldn't at all, were it not for it constantly being shoved down our throats.

There were 2 YOUNG SW on 50th and 9th North today: A BSW named Sonya appeared to be 16-18 and claimed to be 23...I passed. A half a block away, I was flagged down by "Liz" who claimed to be Sonya's aunt and confirmed that she was 16 and worked the street pretty hard. I watched as Liz proceeded to 'escort' Sonya toward 'home' speaking loud enough that I can still hear her voice.

With all of the attention that is being paid to this area, that would be a definite noose around ones neck. Be careful in this area: I see lots of cuties that are either borderline or under age.

I went by Time for the first time on the 18th and had a pleasant evening. Pinky I think was the girl's name, and she and "mama" were both very friendly. I stopped by again on Friday but they were too busy.

I drove around 1 Ave and saw a girl near the book stores that has been hanging around there lately. She was quick to hop in a nice car that pulled up about the time I was pulling up to the intersection. I did not get a good look at her face, but she seems short, has medium-length dark hair, and was wearing a white hat with white pants. This was around 11:00 or so Friday, and about 2:00am I spotted a gorgeous girl around Relax walking toward the Chevron with her shadow in tow.

I'm confused, you said you saw 2 SW in the area, but yet only mentioned Sonya and Liz. The impression you gave was that Liz wasn't a SW, but a guardian of Sonya.

Clarification: both were. Liz claimed to be her aunt and that Sonya was hittin' the street as well. I have experienced Liz before. She was upset because the younger was beating her time-go figure!

The second young one was closer to the intersection of 50th and Airport. She watched me and nodded as I passed: She had a white scarf in her hair and seems to be close to the convenience store often. I usually pass on by 'Crack Corner' quickly with all the thugs out at all hours.

Liz has large boobs and is always in a hurry...probably 35-40'ish.

I think I know who this 'Liz' is. I know her as her real name if it is. Does she have a round face and alot of times wear a wig or something to make her look younger ? She's been around there forever if it's who I'm thinking of. So there's 2 young ones and Liz, am I reading this right, lol ?
