What sucks more is when they're nothing like what you see on screen. For the most part, I've been pretty fortunate to have a lot of great experiences on my bucket list.
And TBH, $2 K is definitely on the high end for someone that isn't even top tier. Most top tier will be in the $1200 - $1500 range. There's a few like Brandi Love and Cherie Deville that will be in the $2000 range, but Holly Hendrix? No way she should be in that range. She should be in the $700-$1000 range and only because she's done mainstream porn scenes.
Probably not the right forum for this, but I'll say that the adult industry sort of confuses me. I've become interested in how it all works behind the scenes, and several active performers go on various podcasts and talk-down about escorting and how performers in the industry shouldn't do it, then you find out that they themselves are doing it. It's very strange. Same with drug use, active performers and industry people swear that it doesn't happen as much as it does, then performers who have a big name retire and they spill it all on a podcast somewhere. I just find it all very interesting.

I'll occasionally use Pamela Peaks as well (her website is a relic from the early 90's). Once I meet a pornstar and if we hit it off really good, I'll get her private contact info and hit her up privately whenever she's in town. That way I save on agency fees. In fact I would say it is the opposite. Most pornstars escort. Many also continue to escort at a higher rate once they get popular. Remember the moment you become famous in Porn, you do not start making tons of money. LA has a highly competitive market and doing porn alone does not make you rich enough to support the expensive standard of living in the valley. Go to Porn Companions dot com if you want to validate that. I have travelled all over the US for work and came across this website a long time ago due to a review I read on TER. I have used them multiple times since then. Just so you know I usually do not pay high rates. So when I have seen pornstars here I have done it just so it is a bucket list item. E. g. The key for most of them is to get name recognition / branding. This way they can escort at a higher fee, headline at a strip joint, start their OF, etc. Keep in mind it's been almost 8 years since I last shot content with pornstars in LA. But for a straight forward boy / girl shoot which usually took me about 2 hours the going rate was about $1000 + $100 agency fee. Of the $1000, the agency (ie ocmodeling, ladirect, motley models) usually takes about another 10% as well. And two hours is considered short, from what they've told me sometimes their day is 5-8 hours being on set. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that an hour of escorting pays better and is less work if they can get accept the stigma attached to it.
I must say that during my short time of shooting, I only had one that I regretted booking and it was because she showed up drunk and made a scene at the hotel I was shooting at. All the other pornstars were super chill and nice. No attitude and non-judgmental. This probably ages me a bit but my favorite ones were: Dillion Harper, Lily Carter, August Ames, Loni Evans, Megan Foxx, Mae Myers, Ally Kay, and Nicole Aniston. Watching those videos will alwyas bring back fond memories for me. LOL.
