3 types, physical, mental and both.

Everything in life can be addicting, fat, salt and sugar that has a chemical effect on the brain is physical addiction.

Gambling, is an emotional addiction.

So like I say again. 3 types of addiction, physical, mental and both.

Addiction plays in many parts of the brain, for example. The Limbic system, the Ventral tegmental are (VTA) plays a big role also, it has a lot of dopamine and plays a big role on emotions and addictions, studies has shown that people that genetically has low dopamine level in the VTA are prone to be addicts. But that aside, the in the limbic system there is an accumbens nucleus, also high on dopamine is the key source of addiction, since this part controls the rewards system. So to answer your question, it would be VTA and the Accumbens Nucleus (part of the Limbic system).
