So. How about we stop trying to convince everyone else that our way is the only way?

If you wish to avoid vaccinations, refuse to wear a mask, and hang out in large crowds, that is your right, but you really don't need to encourage others to do likewise. They can make up their own minds.

If you wish to get vaccinated, wear masks in pubic, and avoid crowds, that is certainly your right as well. We can all meet back here and discuss which side made the smarter decision.

Looks like that fits with the UK & Israel data of 50% rate, so I'm not sure how that jibes with your idol's statement of this being a pandemic of the unvaccinated? Interesting hearing Mr. Wu speak and admit that he erroneously thought he could not spread the virus since he was vaccinated, and so he forewent all the normal precautions such as mask wearing, etc. I guess he'd been listening too much to your idol about how this was a pandemic only for the unvaccinated, and how he was immune. He said now he knows better. This has been common knowledge for a long time, even before the variants starting gaining a foothold here. Again, your idol is spreading disinformation and miseducating people, and doing more harm than good for the purpose of political gain.

Which implemented too little, too late, too disparately. There are numerous countries around the world which successfully locked down early, had no major outbreaks, then were subsequently able to reopen earlier and more completely minimizing the economic hit. Trying to avoid a lockdown was not possible, for the simple reality that whenever things got bad enough people voluntarily locked down and ensured businesses would get hit hard economically even if things were "open". The only route to reopening businesses was getting the pandemic under control, which Trumpist USA refused and continues to refuse to do.

Meanwhile the efficacy of vaccines at both massively reducing cases, hospitalizations, and deaths is demonstrated again and again in country after country, state after state. For example:

Thanks, and good luck to you too! I sincerely hope you are good, and you don't have any long-term issues. Conversely, I'll take my chances with COVID. I'm not that old, have no underlying conditions, am not overweight, and feel the risk / reward is tilted in my favor should I be so unfortunate to contract it. I also feel there are now many more effective treatments that we've since learned about that are not being openly discussed, so the prognosis for recovery is now better than the previous stats indicate (which was already quite good, presuming you did not have underlying conditions).

I haven't tried to convince anyone my thinking is the only way, only that I believe it's right for me, and it's my right to choose that way. FYI, I don't refuse to wear masks, I don't hang out in large crowds, and I don't encourage others to do so. The average cost of Covid hospitalization exceeds $50k-$100K or MORE by some estimates. Since it's Medical insurance companies bearing the costs of people who had a choice and chose not to get vaccinated, if I were an insurance company, I would be looking into NOT covering care for people who refuse the vaccination without medical grounds. Don't take the shot, pay for your own care. Also, NO life insurance payouts for voluntary unvaxxed deaths. No more subsidies. Problem solved!

I'm down for that, so long as they do the same for vaxxed people, including not covering any problems, present and future, caused by the vaccines. The pharma companies have already covered their asses on that, in case you didn't notice with that paperwork you signed, absolving themselves of any responsibility for any health problems that might occur, including death.
