I respect and appreciate your viewpoint, but I just don't have the time to answer dozens of PM's from Senior Members whenever I report about someone new, or a notable experience. I barely have time to sit down and write a single post within a reasonable time frame.

Besides, I usually get a half dozen PM's from senior members when I leave a post about someone new or exceptional, even when I include all the details and/or basic contact info. (I'm even guilty of doing it myself on occassion.) If I find someone worthwhile and DON'T leave details, I'm certain that I'll be inundated with dozens of PM's all asking for the details and/or contact info. I have neither the time nor desire to answer PM's all day or night.

Sorry, but I'm posting them here once and only once, for all to see. That's just my 2 cents worth.

obviously the content of the ad that we can all see and search ourselves isn't what the search tools search so they must be getting ip info, phone numbers associated with cl accounts or credit card info and who knows what else.

bowing to a challenge from the connecticut attorney general’s office, the popular web site craigslist.org last week unveiled new search tools for use by law enforcement aimed at helping track down exploited children and victims of human trafficking.

more than two years ago, in response to a herald inquiry, jim buckmaster, ceo of craigslist.org, said illegal activity on the site is best handled by the craigslist community, which flags inappropriate advertisers.

but this week the site announced a partnership with 40 state attorneys general that will help track hookers who moved from the street to the information superhighway by requiring working telephone numbers and credit card payments. that information, on request, will be handed to law enforcement, buckmaster said.


“they never threatened us, they challenged us to do better,” buckmaster said. “that started a series of discussions and face-to-face meetings with them and ags.”

buckmaster said they were never threatened with legal action or promised any protection from law enforcement. he said as part of the agreement, the site created a new search engine with tools accessible only by law enforcement and the national center for missing and exploited children.

“we’re providing specialized searches . . . to use for identifying and locating exploited and missing minors, and trafficked persons,” buckmaster said. “talking to them has been very fruitful in determining how we could help them in their important work and creating tools for their search interfaces.”

he said all law enforcement has access to the new tools, including massachusetts, which refused to sign on to the partnership.

a spokeswoman for state attorney general martha coakley said her office rarely investigates prostitution on craigslist.org.

those cases tend to be handled by local law enforcement and district attorneys, she said.

Leo has ways of tracking info not available to us. One of the reasons I voiced my opinion of not passing name,number,services, or location no matter how vague on a open forum. Plus passing info to lurkers that don't contribute. As tight as the market is no sense in passing out freebies.

With all of the drama around CL. Whats the boards feeling is this going to hurt or help the hobby? My feeling is that the phone and credit card thing will get rid of alot of the scams posting on CL. If RI ever closes the loophole I think that will sound the panic alarm. Perhaps I should ask this in PM, but in general when posting a report what are acceptable guidelines for info to post?

Gansett, it's Goddamn good to hear somebody being cautious. The reason I blab about Cheaters is because it's not a crime. I don't report on what little street action I do in RI because it just isn't safe to do so.
