Do you often travel this far (Charlotte, Columbia, etc) just for a meet-up or does work take you close to them anyway? I can't imagine driving up to almost 2 hours without knowing for sure whether they will show. You were lucky on the one who traveled 1. 5 hours to you, most I've seen won't travel more than about 45 minutes or so (with one exception) unless there is a big travel tip added.
