I have noticed the number of obvious fake postings go down significantly on CL the past few weeks. I think I have discovered the reason for this. There's apparently a new limit of one active ad per certain categories now (which you would think personal ads would definitely be one of), according to this reddit thread:

CL is finally taking a little action to try to reduce the scam posts, after years of doing little to nothing. Of course the fake posters can always just create new accounts, and they likely already do have multiple accounts, but this will make them have to work harder to keep up with their scams. They also may decide to focus mostly on bigger markets like Atlanta and leave small fry like Greenville alone. But so far it's quite a dramatic drop in the crap ads. We'll see if it stays this way.
