I have been noticing x being down...any insights?
It's not their provider. Their IP is 208.70.246.216 and it's not responding on port 80 (web), but the adjacent IP's from 208.70.246.212-220 do all answer to web traffic. I don't think it's a case of their domain getting hijacked, because I found on dnshistory. Org that their IP was 208.70.246.247 in 2010, so they've been in that same netblock for a long time.
It could be that they didn't pay their bill and got shut off. Could be that the whole server locked up and no one in a position to reboot it has noticed yet, or that the server had a hardware failure. Could be that someone at their hosting provider messed up and moved the server to a new IP without changing the DNS record for it.
The overly paranoid might suspect it's due to the recent agency bust, but that IP is in Canada and I can't imagine Henrico PD confiscating that server over that. After all, Backpage and Eros haven't been shut down over any of the cases that involved them.
Given their recent history of asking for donations, it seems most likely that they just didn't pay their bill.

However, there is a reason we use aliases and frequent boards such as USASG. As soon as you let your guard down is when you get stung. Just ask those of the Agency to which you referred. And speaking of which, when busts go down, the opportunity to minimize penalties increases with assistance to Uncle LEO. Never underestimate his ability to persuade when someone is looking at a potentially life altering event.
the opportunity to minimize penalties increases with assistance to Uncle LEO. Never underestimate his ability to persuade when someone is looking at a potentially life altering event.
That's very true, but most seem to overestimate the reach of local LEO. E.g. A girl gets busted in Henrico then shows back up on BP in Chesterfield or Richmond and guys are afraid to go see her. Of course no one's ever gotten in trouble by being too paranoid, but sometimes it's outside the realm of common sense.
I have been noticing x being down...any insights?
Looks like a DoS attack.should be up soon.

Be safe out there.
Henrico arrest records contain a name that when searched leads one to a social media page belonging to someone with a clear passion for the Redskins.
I hope I'm mistaken in drawing a connection here.
Looks like a DoS attack.should be up soon.
A packet flood would've made the adjacent servers inaccessible also, and they weren't. Not a DoS.
A packet flood would've made the adjacent servers inaccessible also, and they weren't. Not a DoS.
Avenue X is back in biz. Administrators say a server crashed last night.
A packet flood would've made the adjacent servers inaccessible also, and they weren't. Not a DoS.
Actually it was a DOS attack.
Actually it was a DOS attack.
Its up now...
Its up now...
The management at X did confirm it was an attack from Russia. Bastards!

Good ol' Henrico and their "guilty until proven innocent" mantra. That is clearly an assertion of guilt in relation to a charge which has yet to be proven, but who cares about due process, right?.
