In Boston and other places without LDs, "buying drinks" at inflated prices is a backdoor route to extras (e.g., you drop $100+ on drinks and get an HJ literally "under the table" -- which requires the right sense of humor). In places like California and Florida where extras are above board, girls have drink quotas and buying strippers drinks doesn't get anything other than sometimes goodwill. In reviews of clubs on the block, however, I have seen references to $60 drinks. What the hell is that?? Can someone clue me in so I don't make an ass of myself or otherwise look like a chump? The price of the drink determines two things. First, the more expensive drinks supposedly last longer. Second, the more expensive drinks are served in a more private location. For example, if you pay 1 Jack for a drink, it will be right at the center of the bar. If you pay 3 Jacks for a drink, it might be at the back of the bar where there is a very slight sense of privacy. Also, for 3 Jacks some bars have semi private areas, but people can walk by and see whatever is happening. If you pay 7 to 12 Jacks you will likely get a private room for the drink. Some of the bars refer to drinks as lap dances, but it is pretty much the same thing at the block.

The girls typically get about 25% of the price you pay for the drink, so they are going to want some major tips for major services. The drink price gets you the time and the place; the tip gets you the service. But, sometimes you can get a service for very little (or zero) tip; but don't expect to get that from a hot girl.

Of course it's available, but the real question is, would you want it.

Having spent many thousands of dollars in strip clubs over many years, I can tell you that girls are available at every club, for a price. Despite Marx's best efforts, the law of supply and demand still rules. The cute ones cost many ducats, the skanks come cheap(er).

Just wanted to say thanks to the board about the Block. Was there over the weekend and managed to sneak away for a couple of hours on Saturday.

Drove over to the block and paid ten bucks to park in the alley. Hit most of the bars and nothing but ugly hoes and HIGH pressure to buy them drinks.

If you really want to know why, read Jet's saga with Stripperella: she is now on the block, and while certainly not the rule, a good enough example to keep me out of there for anything other than porn in the middle of the night and the odd bachelor party. Well, 90 bucks for a rushed and in public BJ/HJ is a bit steep for me too, I guess that is another reason in and of itself, but have no fear. A thorough examination of *all* of the clubs on the block shouldn't take you more than an hour, max. If it takes longer than that, you found the bar you're asking about.

Trash, I couldn't agree with you more about the lack of girl quality at Sherri's. It definitely needs upgrading. I admit my one experience there is dated, but I doubt it has changed much.

I have driven past there numerous times and one night (several years ago) my curiosity got the better of me so I stopped in to see what it was all about. It is a relatively small place and they had about 3 or 4 girls working at the time. They had a female bartender who asked me if I wanted her to send any of the girls over to me for company. Only one of the girls was half decent looking.

No sooner than I sat at the bar, one-by-one the girls came up to me asking if I wanted any company and if I would buy them a drink. I respectfully declined wanting more time to size up the place and their operation.

If you are ever in the District or just looking for something to do and you don't mind a little driving, you might want to give ARCHIBALD'S (1520 K Street, N.W., phone: 202.737.2662) a try.

Archibald's is an upscale gentlemen's club that caters mostly to businessmen during the day and offers food, pool tables, TV sports bar, and nude dancers.

My business used to take into the District a few times a year. I would skip lunch and head over to Archibald's to look at the ladies. The girls were top quality, mostly college girls and a few married/single women. There were no skanks and the girls were very attractive.
